So yesterday I jumped in the lift with a couple of older male colleagues and we proceed to start rugging up for the cold weather outside. One of the dudes was all “Well I see we’ve all got our winter beanies!” Then I sheepishly put my kitty ear hat on. There was a moment of silence before I explained “Mine’s a special beanie.” Then in a tone usually reserved for children and imbeciles he said “Yes, I see that.” It turns out my hat is actually quite famous where I work. Everyone’s noticed it.

Today I finally (Finally!!) got given some meaty work to start on, and I was so enthusiastic I got stuck in, and nearly ended up making myself late for a date. Opps. Despite the power-walk, and slightly disheveled arrival, I had fun tonight though. I think anytime there’s mexican food and beer involved it’s going to be fun.

Also.. My personal banker dude, who’s helping me with getting rid of my over draft… He’s really sweet! And attractive! Except I don’t have any real reason to go see him again… so I’m thinking of inventing one… Is that a bad idea? I’m thinking I might slip him my number… Or is that pushy? Are you allowed to do that with your banker? He;s such a nice guy I doubt he’d tell me to my face that he’s not interested, or that he has a partner. Hm. Also did I mention that I don’t know his name? I mean I have a vague idea of what it might be… but I’m not 100% sure!

Anyway. In case I do go ahead with operation ‘Cute Banker’ I’ve come up with the perfect reason to see him. .You see, now that I’m almost debt free, I’m DESPERATE to finally get some personal transportation. So I’ve been doing research, and I want something like this Cute Car. So that I think is a good reason to go and chat about loans and stuff!

Although I totally love that car I’m obviously not going to run off and buy it next weekend because I have QUITE a bit to sort out first. There’s that whole finance thing, and the fact that the council won’t give us another resident’s permit – despite the fact that this house has two flats in it, and contains six adults (We’re only allowed two permits!!) I need to sort out some refresher driving in the city – because I’ve never driven in Wellington. I need to also figure out what the deal is with my job – ie. Whether I’ll have a contract extension, or whether I’m moving elsewhere, or whether they’re going to just leave me in limbo for another three weeks. (It’s an unpleasant feeling!) In the mean time, I’m researching, and thinking about going along to the auction to watch and see how much that car goes for, just to get an idea of what I’m looking at!

So tell me, do you have any advice for this intrepid car-buyer?

  1. just finished a couple of thousand K’s trip to Auckland n back via Rotorua in the Xtrail. T’was a great trip n highly recommend that car to anybody. As for yourself, parking will be the biggest prob you will have! Thought of a motorbike? Little nifty 50? No gears, just throttle.

  3. I don’t have any car-buying advice, but i do have dating advice. 🙂 I think it’s totally fine to try to pursue something with the banker. You’ve got nothing to lose!
